Public health expert, dr. Erion Dasho, through a post on social networks, has reacted in relation to the statements of the Ministry of Health about the free vaccination of the population for the seasonal flu, as a preventive measure for COVID-19. Dasho raises the concern that the Minister of Health and the Technical Committee do not have a concrete plan and the appropriate health structures to ensure that these vaccines will be given to the citizens and there will be no stock left as happened with the swine flu vaccine. According to Dasho, at the moment when we cannot manage the vaccine, it is better that this money be invested in other aspects of health, such as buying as many tampons as possible.

Read also: The curve Cambodia WhatsApp Number Data of infections from flu and viruses has been decreasing in the last 10 days The world's first malaria vaccine program for children will be launched in Cameroon For several weeks, there has been talk about the possibility of offering the seasonal flu vaccine for free to the entire population. While this measure will help to significantly reduce the impact of influenza on health by avoiding the simultaneous circulation of COVID, influenza and seasonal viruses, some important questions remain: First, is it possible to vaccinate 2.8 million Albanians within a few weeks? This requires a perfect logistics chain, trained medical personnel and sensitized population to mention only the three most important prerequisites.
Given that these three factors have been the reasons for the failure of the Albanian response to COVID, it seems impossible for the ministry and the committee to do in a few weeks, what they could not do with COVID for almost 9 months. Second, has thought been given to the type of vaccine to be purchased? In the media and social networks, unofficial information about the ministry's inability to buy quality vaccines has been circulating for a long time. Any effort to gain public trust (see previous point) must start from transparency. Again here we fall into a familiar minefield. The way the COVID epidemic was handled in Albania is the worst example of transparency.
